U.S. Sanctions
On December 14, 2012, the President signed into law the Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act of 2012. This act provides authority for the identification of and imposition of sanctions on certain persons related to the detention, abuse, and death of Sergei Magnitsky or responsible for certain gross violations of human rights in the Russian Federation. This program is a list-based program which has financial sanctions (asset freeze) and travel bans in its arsenal.
As of April 27, 2020, the administration has listed 86 names with the tag of [MAGNIT] on the SDN list with relation to this program.
The relevant regulation to this program is codified under 31 C.F.R. §584.
